| Time Project & Other work
Few images from last week whilst working on my time project. Mostly using monoprint scraps, reprinting (to replace colour) and text from newspapers.
| Artist Research
Joseph Ashley Edwards has been an on-going inspiration for all my projects but mainly my current time project. Pieces like Human//Creation and CITYS//PEOPLE//SHAPES. Combination of shape and imagery, as well as some quite surrealistic concepts never ceases to capture my imagination and drive me to create my own. The use of pale colours is quite admirable, giving a sense of colour faded overtime, works well with the old photography. These are some selections from his Personal work.

Potential for visual media happens constantly in the environment, so
having a sketchbook on hand to capture it could pave the way for
something exciting!

Spilled ink on the floor, poor job of trying to remove it, but it has some nice forms, hills, clouds, wind.
scrap from one of my early monoprint, has alot of variety, thickness', lines.
Jumbling scraps around on a table, seeing if any shapes/interesting objects form.
reprinting monoprint scraps into colour/leftover collage materials from Time project to create spontaneous images.

As part of my 'Scavenge, Draw and Record' brief, I've wanted to start to break into more moving image/animation areas seeing as thats hopefully going to be my specialisation in the future.
Above are a few snapshots of the process I take when I create flipbooks. Its starts with observational drawing either:-
- From drawing scenery when travelling on local transport.
- 360 degree drawing of a urban location.
After this, I produce 9 copies of the image and select a size for my flipbook which as use as a 'screen' where movement will take place, so each copy will have a cut out section different from the rest with something like, 7cm width. I place these all in order which will create a scene similar to staring out a window or turning around.
-Development notes will be found in my sketchbooks-

. : Hello Beautiful /// Brief Review
The Hello beautiful brief was an enjoyable experience for me, more of an design-orientated brief than the previous. The christmas break held a good opportunity to collect some items to work from including a deer which is used as a centre piece for a table but instead as a symbolic reference for beauty. I was also able to use tissue paper as an exciting new media, very delicate but I can layer multiple sheets to create darker and more intense colour. This is my chosen final image out of the 5 larger out of sketchbook work.

I used Photoshop in the second image to correct, improve colour saturation, give greater definition to ink lines, match the colours closer to the Hello Beautiful specification.
Apart from the deer, I included other elements to fit with the additional words I centred my work around, power and strength. Power given from the crown, design referenced from my Cheese Crown made during the explanatory stage. strength from the deer's stance, standing up proud. Below is a brief description of my own interpretation of my work.
"Hello Deer - Deer used to represent graceful beauty
as seen in nature, as seen in yourself. Beauty which
mends and heals to create a better outlook. Message of
'Hello Deer' is to be considerate and caring.
How are you, How are you feeling?
The Deer is crowned to demonstrate right to power and to feel powerful."
