CONNECT:TRANSFORM:RELATIONSHIP.
| 2 DAY INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT |
Day One.
Had a fun time trying to create a small photography studio today for a task in the Fine Art block of the explanatory stage. Pinched a lamp from upstairs and used two portfolio cases as a backdrop for a quick lighting/photography area. Who wants annoying backgrounds full of furniture and windows when you can have a clean canvas!
~Colin.

They turned out pretty good. Just wanting to isolate those shadows.

Day Two.
| Studio Work | Piece Production
-6 Initial Pieces
-4 Developed Pieces
-2 Final Pieces
'Collection of the first 6 pieces'

Collection of the first 6 images produced with Ink, Pastel, Graphite. When reviewing my work I saw that the 'Graphite sketch' of the skull needed reworking, so I used it as college for a later piece. Among my personal favorites at this stage was the piece in incorporating the use of red pastel and graphite as-well as the portrait teeth ink piece.

With the next 4 Pieces, I focused on using media I thought worked well before and began to work bigger, for the piece using red pastel, I had used a previous piece as collage to make up some of the initial outlines for the piece. This was, in my opinion, a stronger piece than compared to the original. I liked how layered and busy the piece looked although I didn't like the angle I chose as much from my object. I still much preferred the red pastel and graphite piece from the last 6 as the close up was alot more interesting.

Lastly, for my final pieces, I aimed to pull all the ideas together with the use of pastel, Ink, college, now including tone as suggested from my peer review with another student and close-ups. I was extremely happy with how the red pasted piece came out, the image really becomes visible as you step back from it and all the elements seem to fall into place, similarly with the other piece although it isnt as worked as I would like it to be.

TRANSFORMATION ARTISTS.

ONE - Matthew Calderwood.

CAST NATURAL RUBBER
Love this selection of simple bold 3D Shapes, The idea that sections from a single art piece and be rearranged into another form, keeping that sense of transformation in his work. I'm partially fond of the top image, due to the pattern it creates.

TWO - Rachel Whiteread.

'EMBANKMENT'
Personal favorite of mine, reminding me of my childhood, trying to create homes from cardboard boxes. I feel like these cubes construct a city like environment, with towers and homes, which was my original thinking but in actual fact suppose to replicate the contrast between organised and disorganization to make the viewer contemplate use of space in the warehouse.

ARTISTS WHO USE WALKING.

ONE - Richard Long.

“Thus walking—as art—provided a simple way for me to explore relationships between time, distance, geography and measurement. These walks are recorded in my work in the most appropriate way for each different idea: a photograph, a map, or a text work. All these forms feed the imagination.” − Richard Long Quote.

"Art about mobility, lightness and freedom. Simple creative acts of walking and marking about place, locality, time, distance and measurement. Works using raw materials and my human scale in the reality of landscapes." - Extract from

SEA LEVEL WATERLINE
Death Valley, California 1982
The line created in this sculpture resembles a
road or a path, naturally created, continuing off into the distance.

TIGER LINE
Walk in the GLÄRNISCH MASSIF
Switzerland 2010
Another example of a path, the line twists and curves naturally with its
environment. Created by the numerous walkers and visitors passing through
who have cut through the snow.

fINE ART.

Monday 14th Collection
-Group Activity Images.
-Letter Association.

+------------------------+

- 'S' -
During this short activity, I had to find images which began/related to the letter 'S'. I found images involving a physical object and an actual action, in this case, Stairs and Slide which was created by simply a boot striking across a small puddle.

COLOURS.
Colour Palettes I found somewhat interesting.

First 4. Always loved the simple white and black colour scheme but involving another extra sort of, in my opinion, makes the colour in this case red, pop out more, as its the only source of colour among the Gray-scale  Similar idea is behind the Green and light white colour palette in the next 2 images, the orange on black but the last one is slightly more stranger. I chose this due to the colours Cream and purple combined together always made me think of holidays, Christmas for example, Cream is a softer colour to me and then the purple is alot more vibrant creating this, Vibrant to non-vibrant relationship.

Next 3. Just like said above, This relationship is seen in the red and black, gray and lime green, but the end one, white with blue, pink and purple I rather liked due to you have 3 colours, pretty close to eachother in the spectrum, which could be used as a alternative for generic tone with black shades on a white background which I thought was a pretty interesting concept.

Last 3. Similar to said above, the different shades of green is another favorite of mine. The yellow on purple is another odd combination, but they're two colours opposite to eachother on the spectrum so it has this quality similar to orange and green, red and blue that they're opposites, negative positive.
